That First Cold Front

And then one morning you go out, and everything’s changed!
The leaves in your yard have all been rearranged
Your blood feels a little bit thinner
You dream about chili for dinner
There’s a bounce in your step that simply can’t be explained

Your Texas lungs breathe in that cold northern air
Before long the trees in your yard will be totally bare
You think about Pets, Pipes and Plants
Instead of mosquitoes and ants
You dig in your drawers to lay hands on your long underwear

The weatherman on TV must be slightly demented
His forecast today seems like something that he just invented
It’s thirty degrees up in Fargo
But we’re back in the nineties tomorrow?
This weather ‘round here has got me so disoriented!
